CSKA is the most successful and titled Bulgarian football club. The official establishment date is May 5, 1948.
CSKA is Bulgaria's absolute record holder in terms of championship titles, having won the state championship as many as 31 times. Between 1954 and 1962, CSKA was champion in nine consecutive seasons. The team managed to win the championship title of Bulgaria in the following years: 1948, 1951, 1952, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1966, 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1976, 1970, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1987, 1989, 1980, 1992, 1997, 2003, 2005 and most recently in 2008.
The Army Club has also won 20 National Cups for the country (1951, 1954, 1955, 1961, 1965, 1969, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1983, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1993, 1997, 1999, 2 006, 2011 , 2016), as well as 4 Super cups (1989, 2006, 2008 and 2011).
CSKA is the most successful Bulgarian team in European club tournaments. The team reached an impressive two Champions League semi-finals (in the 1966/67 and 1981/82 seasons) as well as four quarter-finals. CSKA also recorded one semi-final for the Cup Winners' Cup (in 1988/89). The club is known as the "killer of European champions". So far, CSKA has met four current holders of Champions League, and in three of the cases they eliminate their rival - Ajax (1974), Nottingham (1981) and Liverpool (1982).

After the club's deliberate bankruptcy in 2016, FC CSKA 1948 began the moral revival of CSKA, starting from the lowest level of Bulgarian football, setting a clear example of preserving sports fair play.
The team successively won "A" district group, Third and Second professional league of Bulgaria. In 2019, CSKA 1948 climbed into the most prestigious format of the Bulgarian football efbet League, where with each subsequent football season it finished in a higher place in the ranking.
In the 2022/23 season, CSKA finished the championship winning the bronze medals and qualified for participation in the European club tournaments.
The club has a second team competing in the Second League, and in the 2022/23 season it became the champion of Bulgaria in the second most popular championship. CSKA is also represented with a third team that competes in the Third League, and there are plenty of young and promising Bulgarian football players in the squad.
CSKA 1948 can proudly boast of its youth academy, where dozens of young talents train, and the club provides them with excellent conditions for their development towards professional football.
